Discount Calculator

Original price plus discount percent gives you the price you actually pay — and what you keep.

Quick answer: a $120 jacket at 25% off costs $90.00 — you save $30.00.

How discounts work

Sale price = original × (1 − discount ÷ 100). The saving is the rest: original × discount ÷ 100. A 25% discount on $120 removes $30, leaving $90.

Stacked discounts do not add — they multiply

"Extra 10% off the sale price" sounds like 25% + 10% = 35% off. It isn't. The second discount applies to the already-reduced price: $120 → $90 after 25% off → $81 after another 10% off. The total saving is $39, which is 32.5% off, not 35%. Use the optional second discount field above to check any stacked offer — retailers count on shoppers adding instead of multiplying.

Reverse question: what discount is this?

If you know both prices, the discount is (original − sale) ÷ original × 100. A price cut from $120 to $90 is (120 − 90) ÷ 120 × 100 = 25% off. The percentage decrease calculator runs the same question.
